MY FIRST BLOG

Yesterday I attended an event at the State Capitol with two of my close friends. The ceremony was in Honor of Cesar E. Chavez and was hosted by the Governor's office along with the Legislative Latino Caucus. When we arrived, there were Mariachi's singing. After we signed in and took our seats, it occurred to me that I had never realized how many elected Hispanic Official's were representing the State of Arizona. Governor Napolitano was the keynote speaker and several Hispanic people were honored for their outstanding public service in the State of Arizona. The most touching moment to me was when Manuel "Lito" Pena, at 81 years old, walked up to the podium to say a few words. I left that ceremony with a very good feeling.

After the ceremony myself (on the right), Felicia and Odette went to OXACA'S (did I spell that wrong) in Phoenix to have a birthday dinner for Odette's 31st birthday. We started with a Margarita and had a very delicious meal. There were some performers singing a whole lot of "Old School & Slow Jams", I told them it was Odie's birthday and they sang "Happy Birthday" to her. The picture did not come out that good, but I wanted to post it. I felt honored that I was able to spend Odie's birthday with her. She is, by far, one of the nicest people I know. She is a very good person, someone who does not judge and that you can count on.

After dinner Odette dropped me off at my brother's house and I waited for my very devoted boyfriend to pick me up. I spent some time with my niece whom I just adore. She is the "apple of my eye" and I LOVE her sooooo much. She just got her baby shots and believe it or not, she was not the least bit fussy. I love it when she gets excited and squints her eyes when she sees me. I can't wait till she is able to call me on the phone and ask to come spend the night with Auntie Norma.

It was yesterday that I heard the girls talking about "BLOGS". I had no idea what a BLOG was, so they explained it to me. Odette sent me her site information, and here I am, trying to figure this out. I hope to share my thoughts and special moments with my friends.

I picked "Loving Life" as my title, because I believe that everyone should love life. It took me a long time to realize and believe in this phrase, a lot of stumbles, falls, and rock bottom moments, but because of those "hard knocks" I have learned so much. I believe that having God in my life, my family, my friends, and the confidence to be a good person has helped me grow into the person I've always visioned for myself.

Boy, I sure wrote a whole bunch for being my first BLOG. I'll bet you are saying, "blog, blog, blog..." hee hee. I think I am going to enjoy this new venture!
